(EFEUSA) .- The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) announced today that on March 5 it will organize in San Juan its XXVII edition of the ASCAP Latin Music Awards, in which Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Draco Rosa will be honored. the Dominican merenguera Milly Quezada.
Rosa, a former member of the Menudo youth group and known for her albums “Vagabundo” and “Amor Vinit Omnia”, as well as for her performances of “MarÃa”, “La Copa de la Vida” and “Livin ‘la Vida Loca”, performed by Ricky Martin, will receive the Vanguard ASCAP Award, the agency reported in a press release.

Some of the music creators who have received this recognition in the past include Alejandro Sanz, Franco de Vita, Armando Manzanero, Ricardo Arjona, Ednita Nazario, Olga Tañón, Gilberto Santa Rosa, La Fania All Stars and Celia Cruz, among others.
The delivery of the XXVII ASCAP Awards in San Juan is a return to the Puerto Rican capital after organizing them in 2017, before hurricanes Irma and MarÃa devastated the island.
In response, ASCAP Latin Membership Vice President Gabriela Gonzalez said that at the end of last year, ASCAP made the decision to support the composer community in Puerto Rico by organizing once again “our largest Latino event on the island.”
“We look forward to returning to San Juan and celebrating two of our most successful ASCAP members,” he said.
The musical entity will include in gala a dinner, in which it will recognize the 50 most interpreted songs of the Latin music of 2018.
In addition, awards will be given to the ASCAP Composer of the Year, ASCAP Singer-Songwriter of the Year, Editor of the Year, and Independent Editor of the Year and Television.
