He emphasizes that Delcy RodrÃguez “has shown very strong leadership so far”
US President Donald Trump confirmed on Thursday the transfer of “more than 50 million barrels” of Venezuelan oil to the United States, assuring that “many more” will arrive, while highlighting the “strong leadership” of Venezuela’s interim president, Delcy RodrÃguez. “Venezuela is going to be very rich, and she has done a very good job,” he stressed.
“We are currently transferring millions of barrels of oil to the United States… More than 50 million barrels of oil have already been transferred or are being transferred to the United States, and there are many more to come,” he said in statements to the press aboard Air Force One.
Along these lines, he assured that “we are going to start drilling very soon,” boasting of having “the largest companies in the world.” “They are all negotiating right now, and we represent the nation, which is very excited about this, because we are very good at this, and they are going to make more money than ever, but we will also make a lot of money,” he emphasized.
The occupant of the White House celebrated that this will be beneficial for the North American country, which “is going to make Venezuela a lot of money,” in addition to lowering the price of crude oil. “We have lowered oil prices in many cases to $2.30 per gallon and, in numerous cases, (…) below $2,” he said regarding the previous figures of “$4.50, $5, $3.90” per gallon, as he indicated.
Trump boasted that “prices are falling very quickly, including food, practically everything” in the United States and defended that “I inherited very high prices” from the previous administration led by Democrat Joe Biden. “They caused them. I inherited very high prices, and we’ve done a great job. Prices have come down a lot, and I would say that’s led by energy. Right now, we’re drilling more oil than at any other time in our country’s history, and if you add Venezuela to that, it’s a tremendous part of the market,” he emphasized. “Our country will become richer, and that means our taxes will go down,” he concluded.
The US president thus placed the economic issue front and center when asked about what would make him support elections in Venezuela, whose leaders “I want to see how they do.” “First of all, we have to raise a lot of money. We have to get it back right now,” he said, before lamenting that Venezuelans “are not living well because of… years of socialism and worse than socialism.”
He then argued that “Venezuela is going to be very rich” thanks to oil exports to the United States. “If that continues, even with us taking a very fair share, Venezuela will be much better off than ever before,” he reiterated.
On the other hand, he highlighted that Delcy RodrÃguez “has done a very good job.” Furthermore, when asked about his “inclination” to “keep her” in charge of the Latin American country, President Trump praised her “very strong leadership.”
“I also spoke today with MarÃa (Corina Machado, the Venezuelan opposition leader), whom I appreciate very much. But I have to say that Delcy has shown very strong leadership so far,” he reiterated from Air Force One on his return from Davos, Switzerland, where he participated in the World Economic Forum.
