Cold Front to Affect Florida, Bringing Lower Temperatures

Florida. — A cold front has begun moving across the state and will bring a noticeable drop in temperatures over the next few days, especially in northern and central Florida, where temperatures could feel below freezing in the early morning hours.

Meteorologists warn that nights and early mornings will be the coldest, with winds increasing the wind chill and creating uncomfortable conditions for those who have to go out early for work or school.

In central Florida —including Orlando, Kissimmee, and surrounding areas—minimum temperatures are expected to be between 40 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit, while even lower temperatures could be recorded in northern Florida. In southern Florida, the drop will be more moderate, but it will still feel cooler than usual for this time of year.

Authorities recommend that residents:

  • Dress warmly, especially children and the elderly.
  • Avoid leaving pets outdoors overnight.
  • Protect cold-sensitive plants.
  • Use heating systems cautiously to prevent fires or carbon monoxide poisoning.

Although the cold snap will be temporary, the cooler weather is expected to last for several days before temperatures return to more typical winter levels for Florida.
