Globalia Inaugurates Santo Domingo Bay Convention Resort & Casino, Its Renovated Hotel in the Dominican Republic

Globalia has just inaugurated Santo Domingo Bay Convention Resort & Casino, its renovated property located in the municipality of Boca Chica, in the capital of the Dominican Republic. The iconic hotel complex begins a new chapter with an innovative offering that redefines the all-inclusive concept in Santo Domingo.

The legendary resort features 350 rooms and suites, as well as a private beach, three swimming pools, a convention center, spaces for weddings and events, and a casino, among other amenities. Its recently completed renovation represents an investment of nearly 48 million euros.

The opening ceremony was attended by the President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, and the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, along with other prominent figures from the country. The delegation was received by key representatives of Globalia, including its Chairman, Juan José Hidalgo; María José and Javier Hidalgo, shareholders of the group; and Javier Blanco, a company executive.

“The reopening of this iconic hotel reinforces our clear commitment to the Dominican Republic, where we have been investing since the 1980s. I have always believed in the enormous potential of this country, which I consider my second home. Its incomparable beauty and the warmth of its people make it one of the most attractive destinations in the world. Both myself and the entire Globalia team will continue to be strategic partners in promoting and enhancing its tourism development,” commented Juan José Hidalgo.

“For the country I represent, it is an honor to have business leaders like Juan José Hidalgo, who believe in the potential of this nation, which surpasses its own tourism records every year. Proof of this is that we will conclude 2025 with a record-breaking figure, reaching 11.6 million visitors,” stated Collado.

Globalia’s strong commitment to the Dominican Republic is also reflected in its airline, Air Europa, the leader in the number of flights operated from Europe to the country.

Currently, the company connects Madrid with Punta Cana, Santiago de los Caballeros, and Santo Domingo. For the upcoming Christmas season, Air Europa will reinforce its operations in the capital with two flights on most days and, looking ahead to the summer of 2026, will increase its flights to the Dominican Republic from 13 to 17 weekly flights.
