US President Donald Trump confirmed this Wednesday that he will declare the anti-fascist movement a domestic terrorist group—despite the fact that it is not an organization with solid structures, leaders, or membership lists—a move recently suggested after blaming the “radical left” for the murder of ultra-conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
“I am pleased to inform our many American patriots that I will be designating antifa, a sick, dangerous, radical left-wing organization, and a disaster, as a terrorist organization of major significance,” he stated on his Truth Social platform.
In the brief message, the White House resident stated that “I will strongly recommend that those who fund antifa be thoroughly investigated, in accordance with the strictest legal standards and practices.”
The US president stated days ago that he would adopt the measure if he had the support of members of the Cabinet and the Department of Justice, an announcement he made after blaming Kirk’s murder on September 10 on the rhetoric of the “radical left,” despite the idea he raised repeatedly during his first term.
