Harris calls Trump to express that she is “grateful” that he is safe

The Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, has had a phone call this Tuesday with her Republican rival in the presidential elections, former President Donald Trump, to express that she is “grateful” that he is safe after the apparent assassination attempt he suffered a few days ago in West Palm Beach, the second incident of this nature in just a few months.

“I have verified that he is fine,” Harris told the media after a White House official reported that she had had a “cordial and brief” conversation. After that, the vice president and Democratic presidential candidate has shown her “complete confidence” that the Secret Service will protect her and her family.

The president of the country, Joe Biden, also called Trump the day before to express his “relief” at the failed attempt to attack him. Just hours earlier, Trump had blamed Biden and Harris for using “rhetoric” that has led to him being shot twice in recent months.

Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, the suspect in the attack on the former president while he was playing golf this Sunday in Florida, has been charged with two federal charges of illegal use of firearms. This is the second such incident involving Donald Trump, after being injured in July during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. On that occasion, the shooter was shot dead.
