Mike Pence leaves the door open to a possible candidacy for the US presidential elections in 2024

Former Vice President of the United States Mike Pence has left the door open to a possible candidacy for the 2024 presidential elections, where he could face former President Donald Trump in primaries.

“I am sure that we will make a decision in the coming months about the role that we could play, either as a national candidate or as a voice for our conservative values,” Pence said during an interview with The Hill portal.

The former vice president of Trump has reactivated his agenda in recent months and, on the occasion of the last mid-term elections, has visited several states in which the Republican primaries will be held first.

“In the coming months we are going to continue traveling,” said Pence, who has recently emerged as a figure critical of Trump by denouncing the pressure exerted by the former president to try to challenge the result of the 2020 elections and stop the proclamation of Joe Biden.

In the event that Pence finally presents his candidacy for the elections, he will face Trump, who in mid-November assured that he would run for president in search of a second term and is, for the moment, the only confirmed candidate.

Thus, although he has not come to assess the proposal of his former boss, he has defended that the United States “requires a new leadership.” “I have every confidence that the American people and Republican voters will have better options for 2024,” he said.
