The pandemic leaves in the last hours almost 600,000 cases worldwide

The coronavirus pandemic has left almost 600,000 cases in the world during the last 24 hours after exceeding the barrier of 126 million total infections the day before, according to data collected by Johns Hopkins University in the latest update of its balance, this Sunday.

The agency has indicated that during the last day 595,393 cases and 9,790 deaths have been detected, which places the totals at 126,732,921 and 2,777,684, respectively, with 71.7 million people recovered from COVID-19.

The United States is the most affected country in total figures, with 30.2 million cases and 548,828 deaths. Behind are Brazil, with 12.4 million infections and 310,550 deaths, and India, with 11.9 million and 161,552, respectively.

For its part, Mexico is the third country in the number of deaths, with 201,429, after surpassing the barrier of 200,000 deaths this Thursday, although it appears in thirteenth place in the number of infections globally.

France, Russia and the United Kingdom are over four million cases, while between three and four million are Italy, Spain and Turkey. In the range between two and three million are Germany, Colombia, Argentina, Mexico and Poland.

Between one million and two million infections include Iran, Ukraine, South Africa, Peru, the Czech Republic, Indonesia and the Netherlands, while Chile, Canada, Romania, Belgium, Israel, Iraq, Portugal, Sweden, the Philippines, Pakistan, Hungary, Switzerland, Bangladesh, Jordan, Serbia and Austria are between half a million and a million infections.

Likewise, Morocco, Japan, Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have confirmed between 400,000 and 500,000 infections, while Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Panama, Malaysia, Bulgaria, Ecuador and Belarus have detected between 300,000 and 400,000 cases.

On the other hand, in the range between 200,000 and 300,000 cases are Kazakhstan, Georgia, Nepal, Bolivia, Croatia, Azerbaijan, Greece, Dominican Republic, Tunisia, Occupied Palestinian Territories, Ireland, Denmark, Kuwait, Moldova, Costa Rica, Lithuania , Slovenia and Paraguay.

Finally, in the group between 100,000 and 200,000 infections are Egypt, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Armenia, Honduras, Qatar, Nigeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Libya, Venezuela, Oman, Burma, Bahrain, Kenya, North Macedonia, Albania , Algeria, China, Estonia, South Korea and Latvia.

China, the country where the pandemic originated, has 101,663 infected and 4,841 fatalities, as the university’s balance sheet concludes.
