Cry Macho, the new Clint Eastwood, will premiere in October

Cry Macho is Clint Eastwood’s next movie. The film, which also stars Eastwood himself, already has a release date and will hit theaters on October 22, 2021.

This has been revealed by Variety, which points out that the film will be released the same day both in theaters and on HBO Max. Eastwood will play a former rodeo star and horse breeder who takes the job of a former boss to steer her young son away from his alcoholic mother. The story is based on the 1975 novel by N. Richard Nash and, in addition to featuring Eastwood, stars Eduardo Minett and Dwight Yoakam. The novel was originally written as a screenplay before Nash turned it into a novel, and Eastwood first considered adapting it in 1988. Arnold Schwarzenegger was to star in a Brad Furman-directed version that was announced at the Cannes Film Festival of 2011, but the project was finally canceled
