Publix to open COVID-19 vaccine appointments for those 60 and over starting Friday

ORLANDO, Fla.— Publix will open up COVID-19 vaccine scheduling to include those age 60 and older beginning on Friday.

Those in that age group will be able to use Publix’s online reservation system to make appointments at participating Florida Publix Pharmacy locations.

Publix said they will priority school employees for future vaccination opportunities until further notice at the direction of the federal government as part of the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program.

That group includes teachers, school staff and child care workers who work in pre-primary, primary and secondary schools as well as Head Start and Early Head Start programs.

Additionally, those who work for licensed child care providers will be included.

Remaining appointments after the prioritized group will become available to others who are eligible.

The online reservation system opens Friday at 8 a.m. for those who meet state and federal requirements.
