Clippers fall in big contender matchup in Brooklyn

The Los Angeles Clippers have lost on their visit to the Brooklyn Nets (124-120) in a great duel of contenders for the championship ring, a meeting that Serge Ibaka has finished with 9 points and 10 rebounds.

A handful of the NBA’s brightest stars gathered at the Barclays Center, all of them great aspirants to remove the Los Angeles Lakers from the throne of the competition, and the battle did not disappoint in a very exciting game.

On the local side, an exceptional Kyrie Irving (38 points) seconded by Kevin Durant (28) and by the ‘triple-double’ of James Harden (23, 14 assists and 11 rebounds). In the visitor, Kawhi Leonard (33), Paul George (26) and Nico Batum (21) plus a more misguided Ibaka than usual (3/11 in field goals).

After a triple by Durant, the game seemed doomed with less than two minutes remaining (115-105), but the Clippers struggled to reduce their deficit to a single point with just 24 seconds left (118-117). However, the Nets did not lose their cool and ended up sentenced with a basket by the unexpected Jeff Green with five seconds left.

After this defeat, the Clippers (16-6) remain second in the West with a defeat more than the Utah Jazz (16-5) and tied with the same balance as their neighboring Lakers, the three teams that currently dispute the leadership of the Conference.
