The coronavirus pandemic is close to 94 million worldwide infections

The coronavirus pandemic is already close to 94 million infected people after registering more than 700,000 cases in the last hours and after exceeding two million deaths the day before, according to the latest update this Saturday of the balance offered by the University Johns Hopkins.

Specifically, according to the entity, a total of 93,869,189 people have suffered from the coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic – 733,702 more than on Friday – and 2,009,595 people have died due to the disease, 14,494 of them in the last 24 hours. On the other hand, 51,713,442 people have recovered from COVID-19 to date.

The United States continues to appear as the most affected country in total figures, with 23.5 million cases and 392,106 deaths, while behind India, with 10.5 million cases and 152,093 deaths, and Brazil, with 8.3 million cases and 208,246 deaths, respectively.

In fourth place in terms of number of cases is Russia, with 3.4 million cases and 63,558 deaths, while the United Kingdom is in fifth place with 3.3 million infections and 87,448 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

In the range between two and three million cases are France (2,931,396), Turkey (2,373,115), Italy (2,352,423), Spain (2,252,164) and Germany (2,023,828), which has exceeded this threshold this Friday. In the range between one million and two million are Colombia, Argentina, Mexico, Poland, Iran, South Africa, Ukraine and Peru.

Behind are the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Indonesia, Canada, Romania, Belgium, Chile, Iraq, Israel, Portugal, Bangladesh, Sweden, and Pakistan, which are between 500,000 and a million infections.

For their part, the Philippines, Switzerland and Morocco have confirmed between 400,000 and 500,000 cases, while Austria, Serbia, Saudi Arabia, Hungary, Japan and Jordan have registered between 300,000 and 400,000 infections since the start of the pandemic.

Between the 200,000 and 300,000 cases are Panama, Nepal, Georgia, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Lebanon, Ecuador, Azerbaijan, Croatia, Belarus, Slovakia, Kazakhstan and Bulgaria.

Likewise, between 100,000 and 200,000 are the Dominican Republic, Denmark, Costa Rica, Bolivia, Tunisia, Ireland, Lithuania, Armenia, Kuwait, Egypt, Moldova, Occupied Palestinian Territories, Malaysia, Greece, Guatemala, Slovenia, Qatar, Burma, Honduras , Oman, Ethiopia, Paraguay, Venezuela, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Libya, Nigeria and Algeria.

For its part, China, the country where the pandemic originated, has 97,616 infected and 4,796 fatalities, as reported by Johns Hopkins University on its website.
