Timberwolves pick Anthony Edwards No. 1 in NBA draft

The guard Anthony Edwards, from the University of Georgia, has been selected by Minnesota Timberwolves in the first position of the NBA ‘draft’, where there has been no presence of Spanish players but there have been ACB clubs, since Leandro has been selected Bolmaro (Barcelona) and Vit Krejci (Casademont Zaragoza).

There were no surprises in this exceptional ‘draft’ held telematically and the ‘Wolves’ selected Edwards to complete a promising team along with Karl-Anthony Towns, D’Angelo Russell and the ‘prodigal son’ Ricky Rubio, awaiting that the return of Spanish becomes official.

The second choice corresponded to the Golden State Warriors and the Californian team, which hopes to return to the charge after a season to be forgotten, opted for center James Wiseman, called to be important from day one in a team that has distinguished itself in the last few years for failing to rank a pure ‘5’.

The podium of the night was completed by LaMelo Ball, the second of the media Ball brothers to land in the NBA after Lonzo. The tall guard, who made a surprising leap to professionalism at just 16 years of age in Lithuania, will wear the jersey of Charlotte Hornets, the franchise that is owned by Michael Jordan.

In addition, the ‘Top 10’ also include the presence of two Europeans, the French guard Killian Hayes, selected in seventh place by Detroit Pistons, and Israeli Deni Avdija, chosen in ninth by Washington Wizards.

As for Spanish basketball, there were no players, but there were clubs involved. Thus, Argentine guard Leandro Bolmaro was selected by the New York Knicks in 23rd place and his rights were later transferred to the Timberwolves, while Oklahoma City Thunder was left with the right of Czech guard Vit Krejci, initially chosen by Washington Wizards in the 37.
