The coronavirus pandemic breaks daily record with 289,100 cases and exceeds 17 million infected

The United States adds more than 70,000 positives and Brazil another 69,100 while India registers more than 50,000 cases in the last day

The pandemic of the new coronavirus originated in the Chinese city of Wuhan has registered 289,100 new cases in the last 24 hours, which represents its new daily record and brings the balance to more than 17 million infected people and more than 667,000 fatalities, according to the global balance published this Thursday at 8:30 am by Johns Hopkins University.

The United States exceeds 4.42 million cases with 150,713 fatalities, after adding 70,800 new positives in the last 24 hours. Brazil – with 2.5 million positives and 90,134 deaths, including 69,100 new cases from the previous balance – is instead the country with the most recovered patients, with 1.92 million people saved.

For its part, India records 1.58 million infections with 34,955 deaths, after adding 50,300 positives on the last day, its second highest daily number in the entire series since the virus hit Brazilian soil. Next, Russia accumulates 827,509 infections and 13,650 deaths.

SOUTH AFRICA SUMS OVER 11,000 CASES AND EXCEEDS 471,000 POSITIVES
South Africa is in fifth place with 471,123 positives and 7,497 deaths, after adding 11,400 positives from the previous balance, followed by Mexico, which accumulates 408,449 infections and 45,361 deaths, and Peru, with 400,683 positives and 18,816 deaths.

For its part, Chile has 351,575 infected people and 9,278 deaths, while the United Kingdom has 303,063 people with coronavirus and 46,046 fatalities.

Then, Iran accumulates 298,909 positives and 16,343 deaths, ahead of Spain, which has 282,641 infected and 28,441 deaths. In Pakistan there are 277,402 people with coronavirus and 5,924 deaths.

For its part, Colombia registers 276,055 infected people and 9,454 deaths, followed by Saudi Arabia (272,590 cases and 2,816 deaths), Italy (246,776 positives and 35,129 deaths), Bangladesh (232,194 infections and 3,035 deaths), Turkey (228,924 cases and 5,659 deaths) ), France (221,077 positives and 30,226 deaths) and Germany (208,546 positives and 9,145 deaths) close the list of countries that exceed the threshold of 200,000 confirmed cases.

COUNTRIES WITH LESS THAN 200,000 MEMBERS
Below the threshold of 200,000 cases are Argentina (178,976), Iraq (118,300), Canada (117,357), Qatar (110,153) and Indonesia (104,432), which exceed 100,000 COVID-19 patients.

Egypt (93,356 cases) and Kazakhstan (87,664) are in the ranking ahead of China, the country where the pandemic originated and which accumulates 87,213 positives. Following are the Philippines, Ecuador, Sweden, Oman, Bolivia, Ukraine, Belarus, Belgium, Israel, Kuwait, the Dominican Republic, Panama, the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, Singapore and Portugal, which have exceeded 50,000 cases. They have more than 40,000 Romania, Guatemala, Poland, Nigeria, Honduras, and Bahrain.

For their part, Armenia, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Ghana, Switzerland, Japan and Azerbaijan have already registered more than 30,000 positives, while Algeria, Ireland, Serbia, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Morocco and Austria exceed 20,000.

Nepal, Kenya, Cameroon, Venezuela, Costa Rica, the Czech Republic, the Ivory Coast, Australia, El Salvador, Ethiopia, South Korea, Denmark, Sudan, the Palestinian Territories, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia and Madagascar have all recorded more of 10,000 positives.
