The US registers the lowest number of infections in one day since March 26 and is close to two million infections
The new coronavirus pandemic originating in the Chinese city of Wuhan has left more than 406,000 fatalities and more than 7.1 million people infected worldwide, according to the latest balance from Johns Hopkins University.
According to data updated at 9:00 am on Monday, the global balance of the coronavirus amounts to 7.1 million cases and 406,542 fatalities in 188 countries and territories.
The total number of people recovered exceeds 3.2 million, with the United States at the top of the list, with 518,522 people cured, followed by Brazil, with 378,257 patients saved, and Russia, with 230,226.
The United States continues to be the country most affected by the pandemic and has added 17,300 cases in the last 24 hours, the lowest number in a daily balance since March 26, and accumulates 1.96 million infected people and 111,007 fatalities.
Brazil continues in second position and exceeds 700,000 cases, with 707,412 infected people and 37,314 deaths, after registering 15,700 positives in the last 24 hours.
Russia remains in third position, with 476,043 positives and 5,963 deaths, after adding 9,000 cases from the previous balance.
In fourth position, the United Kingdom recorded 288,834 cases and 40,680 deaths. India is behind, in fifth place with a total of 267,046 positives and 7,473 deaths, followed by Spain, which has 241,717 people with coronaviruses and 27,136 deaths.
Italy remains the seventh country most affected by the pandemic with 235,278 infected people and 33,964 deaths. In eighth position, Peru borders on 200,000 positives, with 199,696 cases and 5,571 deaths. Next, France recorded 191,313 infections and 29,212 fatalities, ahead of Germany, which recorded 186,109 cases and 8,695 deaths, and Iran, which registered 173,832 infections and 8,351 deaths.
In the twelfth position, Turkey has 171,121 people with coronaviruses and 4,711 deaths, followed by Chile, with 138,846 infected and 2,264 deaths, and Mexico, with 120,102 cases and 14,053 fatalities.
Closing the group of more than 100,000 infections are Pakistan, with more than 108,000 and 2,172 deaths, and Saudi Arabia, with more than 105,000 and 746 deaths.
Below the 100,000 positives, Canada counts 97,779 people with coronavirus and 7,910 fatalities and China, the country where the pandemic originated, accumulates 84,195 cases with 4,638 deaths.
For its part, Qatar registers 70,158 infected people and 57 deaths, and Bangladesh has 68,504 infected and 930 deaths. Belgium has 59,348 cases and 9,606 deaths, ahead of South Africa, which has 50,879 infections and 1,080 fatalities.
Exceeding the 40,000 positives are Belarus, the Netherlands, Sweden, Ecuador and Colombia, while the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Egypt, Portugal, Kuwait, Indonesia and Switzerland accumulate more than 30,000.
For their part, Ukraine, Poland, Ireland, Argentina, the Philippines, Afghanistan, Romania and the Dominican Republic exceed 20,000 coronavirus positives, ahead of Israel, Oman, Japan, Austria, Panama, Bahrain, Bolivia, Iraq, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Denmark, Serbia, South Korea and Algeria, which have more than 10,000 infections.
Ghana, Moldova, and the Czech Republic exceed 9,000 cases, and Norway, Malaysia, Morocco, and Cameroon have more than 8,000 positives. Next, Azerbaijan, Guatemala, Australia and Finland exceed 7,000 cases and Honduras and Sudan exceed 6,000.
