Israel to resume next week family visits to imprisoned Palestinians

The Israeli authorities have confirmed this Sunday that they will once again allow family visits to the Palestinians they are jailing from next week, after three months of suspension due to the danger posed by the coronavirus pandemic.

Palestinian prison worker Abdel Nasser Farwana has confirmed to the official Russian news agency Sputnik that this matter is related to the state of emergency decreed by Israel and which will conclude next Tuesday.

However, Farwana added that the format in which the family visits will take place from now on is not clear as new regulations are expected to prevent contagion.

Given the uncertainty, Farwana has asked the International Committee of the Red Cross to intervene to remove any obstacles that could prevent the resumption of visits in the coming days to the more than 4,500 Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.
