Peru has exceeded 70,000 cases of coronavirus, after adding more than 3,000 in a single day, surpassing at the same time the 2,000 deaths, with nearly one hundred more in the last 24 hours.
According to the balance of victims of Covid-19 released by the Ministry of Health, the total number of people infected is 72,059 compared to 68,822 the previous day, representing a rebound of 3,237 in one day.
The deceased are already 2,057, 96 more than the previous day, with 1,961, while 6,862 patients are still hospitalized, 797 of them in intensive care. In addition, another 23,324 infected people have passed home isolation or have been discharged.
To combat the pandemic, the Government of Martín Vizcarra has declared a state of emergency, which includes a national quarantine that will be in force at least until May 24, although it has already begun to relax allowing some activities and reducing the hours of the touch of remains.
