Windows 10 reaches one billion devices and advances a new design

Windows 10 is already installed on a billion devices worldwide, a milestone the company will celebrate with a redesign of the operating system based on the Fluent language.

The head of the Devices division at Microsoft, Panos Panay, has shared on Instagram a video of thanks to Windows users showing a series of design changes, with a transition to new icons and a start menu.

This new design rounds and simplifies the icons of applications such as PowerPoint, Paint or Weather. A change that is also seen in the start menu, where the square boxes in which the icon occupied all the space, show more air around with the new design. And with the respective dark and light versions.

It is a redesign based on Fluent, which the company has already introduced in its mobile applications, where it was aimed at unifying design elements and appearance with the aim of making the passage of another app more fluid.

In the video, the company stresses the importance of personalization and the inclusion of the operating system, while highlighting that one billion monthly active devices have already been reached worldwide.
