The ‘Kirchner’ wave stains the Argentine map although it is moderated in Congress

BUENOS AIRES.- ‘Kirchnerism’ was the clear winner of the presidential elections held on Sunday in Argentina, a result that repeated at the territorial level, dominating in most districts and provinces, including the crown jewel, the province of Buenos Aires, although it stopped in Congress, where it has remained at the gates of the absolute majority in the Chamber of Deputies.

The tandem formed by Albetro Fernández and former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner – this time as ‘number two’ – was declared the first-round winner with 48 percent of the votes compared to 40 percent who scored the current president, Mauricio Macri and Miguel Ángel Pichetto.

In the lower chamber, with 257 seats that place the absolute majority in 129, of which a total of 130 were renewed, the ‘Kirchnerism’ has added 120 deputies, five more than it had until now, but still insufficient. Let’s change, Macri’s electoral platform has achieved 119, nine more.

However, in the case of the Chamber of Deputies, other parties have to be taken into account, since ‘Peronism’ does not ‘Kirchner’ hold five seats; the Third Way, four; and the rest of the leftist formations, two; while the remaining seven are distributed among other parties.

In the Senate, where only 24 of the 72 senators were at stake, the allies of Fernández and Fernández de Kirchner have obtained six more senators, leaving them in a total of 37, the magic figure to dominate the upper house. Let’s change has remained in 29 seats.

Thus, Fernández, who will take office as Argentine president on December 10, will have to face a Chamber of Deputies, although once the parliamentary procedures have been passed, the Senate would not be a problem.

At the territorial level, the Front of All that brings together ‘Kirchnerism’ has won six of the 23 provinces that make up the southern nation, also seizing most of the districts.

Highlights the overturn in the Government of the province of Buenos Aires, which has won Axel Kicillof, former Minister of Economy of Fernández de Kirchner, to María Eugenia Vidal, the candidate of ‘macrismo’.

Together for the Change has managed to retain the City of Buenos Aires (CABA), where Horacio Rodríguez Larreta has renewed the mandate by comfortably defeating Matías Lammens, according to the Argentine newspaper ‘La Nación’.
