Pablo Carreño surprises the Belgian Goffin and gets into the Metz tournament quarters

The Spanish tennis player Pablo Carreño qualified for the quarterfinals of the Metz (France) tournament, scoring for the ATP and which is played on an indoor hard court, after giving the surprise this Thursday by eliminating the Belgian David Goffin 6-3 , 6-2.

A few weeks after having seen the faces in the US Open with a victory in three sets of Liege, the Spaniard took his revenge and did it with great solvency before the first series head of the event.

The Gijón was at a good level with the service, which he only granted on one occasion, and from there he could control a Goffin, a good player in this type of tracks as evidenced by his final in 2017 of the ATP Finals or the title achieved precisely in Metz in 2014.

But Carreño did not give concessions in the first set where he knew how to take advantage of his opportunity in the sixth game to achieve the key ‘break’ to award it, while in the second he always took the initiative even though his rival finally broke his service. After this moment that was 2-2, the Spanish took the next four games to enter the rooms where Slovenian Aljaz Bedene is waiting for him.
