De Blasio warns that he could retire from the electoral race if he does not qualify for the October debates

The mayor of the city of New York and a candidate for the primaries of the Democratic Party has warned on Wednesday that he could withdraw from the electoral race to the White House if he fails to qualify for the debates scheduled for next October.

“I wanted to enter the debates in September and that was not possible,” De Blasio said, according to the newspaper ‘New York Daily News’.

“The logical thing is to try to get into the October debates and, if I can, I think it’s a good reason to move on and, if I can’t, I think it’s really hard to conceive to continue,” he said.

De Blasio has until 23.00 on October 1 to comply with the limits established to enter the debate. However, the New York mayor expects to be up to mid-October. Europa Press
