Ozuna sweeps the Billboard Latin Music Awards with eleven awards

 Las Vegas (NV), .- Ozuna swept today at the Billboard Latin Music Awards 2019 to win eleven awards, a figure with which the Puerto Rican reggaeton also beat the record of distinctions for a single artist in a single edition of these awards .

Ozuna, who won as the artist of the year, led the list of winners of the ceremony held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas ahead of Nicky Jam, who won five awards; and Bad Bunny, who triumphed in four categories.

This trio of musicians shared the joy of taking home the song of the year award for “Te Boté”, a song in which they were accompanied by Casper Mágico, Nio García and Darell.
“Thank God for tonight (…) because as a nominee I felt like a winner,” Ozuna said on stage.

“And to all of you, public, for always supporting me and being with me,” added the singer, who dedicated his triumphs to Puerto Rico, the country where he was born, and to the Dominican Republic, a land from which his family also comes.

Likewise, Ozuna won the recognition of male artist and Latin album of the year for “Odyssey”, while the Dominican Natti Natasha, who could not attend the party because she was sick, was proclaimed winner in the category of female artist of the year .

The most special recognition of these Billboard Latin Music Awards went to Juan Luis Guerra, who received the Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award as a tribute to his extraordinary career in bachata and merengue.

“First of all, thank Billboard for the recognition of my 35-year career,” said the Dominican after receiving this recognition from his “brother” Juanes.

“I have many people to thank, because without them my career would not have been possible,” he said before enumerating his family, his famous band 4.40, his numerous fans for his “love”, and his native Dominican Republic for the “support for”.

“And above all to Jesus, my lord and savior,” concluded an artist well known also for his deep religious beliefs.
In addition to taking this honorary award, the Dominican could enjoy today, very excited and wearing an elegant tuxedo, a special tribute to his work by Kany García (“Bubbles of love”), Fonseca (“The journey”) and Pedro Capó (“I hope it rains coffee”).

The bachatero Romeo Santos, the reggaetonists Wisin y Yandel and the salsa Marc Anthony began with a very eclectic segment, and songs such as “Howling” or “Look like Friday”, a gala that had as a master of ceremonies to the Venezuelan Gaby Espino.

Becky G and Anitta offered one of the most colorful and colorful performances of the evening with “Banana”, while Rosalía, J Balvin and El Guincho performed “Con Altura” in a futuristic style decoration.

In addition to being the two most awarded artists tonight, Ozuna and Nicky Jam also showed up at the microphone when performing live “Te robaré”, while Banda MS added a regional Mexican accent to the ceremony with songs like “Por siempre mi love”.

There was also time for nostalgic reunions such as Romeo Santos and Aventura, and spectacular moments like the one starring Bad Bunny, which appeared flying over the stage mounted on a water boat to sing “200 MPH” and “We have to talk”.

Luis Fonsi, Nicky Jam and Sebastián Yatra brought the “Turn Around” party to the city of the game, and Karol G and Anuel AA, who are a couple, culminated their sensual “Secreto” and “Culpables” with a passionate kiss.

And in the final stretch shone the hits “Taki taki” and “Dance, dance, dance” with Ozuna, Daddy Yankee, J Balvin, Anuel and DJ Snake united on the tables.

The Billboard Latin Music gala also featured presenters with entertainment figures such as Eugenio Derbez, Isabela Moner, Sofia Reyes, Carlos Vives, Gente de Zona or Régulo Caro. (EFE)
