Idris Elba negotiates to replace Will Smith in the sequel to “Suicide Squad”

Los Angeles, .- Idris Elba is negotiating his incorporation to the sequel of “Suicide Squad” in the role of Deadshot, the role played by Will Smith in the original film that premiered in 2016, reported today the specialist media The Hollywood Reporter.

Last week it was learned that this film, which will be headed by filmmaker James Gunn, can not count on Smith, one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood, due to schedule problems.

Smith will release in May the new version of “Aladdin” Disney and launch in 2020 “Bad Boys for Life”, third installment of the saga of comedy and action “Bad Boys” starring with Martin Lawrence.

If finally it were to reach an agreement with Warner Bros., the studio that is taking to the cinema the histories of DC Comics, Elba would be united to a tape that will be released in August of 2021 and that will not be a continuation as such but a new look to this world of antiheroes with a new cast mostly.

Elba knows superhero movies well since she played Heimdall in the Marvel films about Thor.

The British actor will face Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham in “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw” this year, and will also participate in the version of the musical “Cats” prepared by the filmmaker Tom Hooper for the big screen.

The original “Suicide Squad” was starring Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Jared Leto under the direction of David Ayer.
This film raised 746 million dollars, but had a warm reception by critics and fans.

The director’s chair in the sequel to “Suicide Squad” will have the name of James Gunn.

The signing of Gunn was very commented in Hollywood since it took place shortly after that it was dismissed by Disney like director of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3” after leaving to the light a series of old and controversial messages in Twitter.

Gunn had taken over the direction of “Guardians of the Galaxy” (2014) and his follow-up “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” (2017).

The cast of the saga “Guardians of the Galaxy” asked, without success, the return of Gunn as director of the third film through a letter published on social networks. (EFEUSA)
