Lower House of the US rejects new initiative to reopen administration

The House of Representatives of the Congress rejected today a new bill proposed by the Democrats that it wanted to reopen the administration until next the 1 of February.

A total of 237 congressmen voted in favor of the proposal against 187 that rejected it, but the initiative fell because it did not get the support of the two thirds of the Chamber that it required.

This project was the first of the two announced by the Democratic group this week to end the administrative closure, which reaches its twenty-fifth day without a close resolution.

In addition to the Democratic representatives, six Republicans voted in favor of today’s initiative, although they are less than those who backed a similar project last week.
A second budget regulation, also drafted by the Democrats, will be presented and voted by the end of the week, which would provide funding to the government agencies closed until February 28.

But if this bill is approved in the House of Representatives, it should receive approval in the Senate, where the leader of the Republican majority, Mitch McConnell, has repeated on several occasions that he will not adopt any legislation that the president, Donald Trump, do not support.

On the other hand, the White House press secretary, Sarah Sanders, reported today that a group of Democratic congressmen rejected an invitation to negotiate with members of the Government a possible agreement that ends with the closure of the Administration.

Meanwhile, the leader of the Democrats in the Senate, Chuck Schumer, said, also today, that takes around “a week” without receiving news of Trump but will meet him “whenever he wants”, picked up media local.

Since December 22, a part of the administration of the country remains closed while Trump and Democrats maintain a pulse for a very specific budget allocation: the 5.700 million dollars that the president asks Congress to build his promised wall on the border with Mexico. (EFEUSA) .-
