Disney is in negotiations with Tom Hanks so that the actor interprets to Geppetto in the new version that prepares of the infantile classic “Pinocchio”, informed the specialized means Collider today.
If the talks finally led to an agreement, Hanks would join a project led by Paul King, the director of Paddington (2014) and “Paddington 2” (2017).
Based on the novel by Italian writer Carlo Collodi, the original Disney film “Pinocchio”, released in 1940, told the story of a wooden puppet, made by the carpenter Geppetto, who came to life by magic.
Unlike that animated film, the new film about “Pinocchio” will feature real action and characters of flesh and blood.
This film is part of Disney’s grand strategy of reinterpreting its classics, either with new animation techniques or with real actors.
The study received a great response, for example, with the new version of “Beauty and the Beast” (2017), which raised 1,263 million dollars worldwide.
In this sense, Disney will premiere next year the reinterpretations of the famous films “Aladdin”, “The Lion King” and “Dumbo”.
