This time the defense made the difference in the triumph of the Patriots

The New England Patriots saw their defense allow them to win 6-25 at home against the Buffalo Bills in the traditional “Monday Night” match, which closed Week 8 of the National League. of American Football (NFL).

“Safety” Devin McCourty returned a touchdown interception 84 yards, and the Patriots defense was in charge of the rest, which completely annulled the already weak Bills offense.

The excellent work of the defense allowed the Patriots to conclude the game without their stellar quarterback, the legendary Tom Brady, had to give a single pass scoring.

Running back James White scored on a 1-yard run and the Patriots relied more on kicker Stephen Gostkowski’s leg than on Brady’s arm for his fifth straight win, improving his mark to 6-2 and consolidating his leadership in the Eastern Division of the American Conference (AFC).

Brady finished with 29 completions in 45 attempts for 324 yards, but was left without a touchdown pass for the first time this season.

The 41-year-old veteran quarterback was knocked down twice in 13 opportunities that generated the Bills defense, and placed the passer rating at 85.8.

Gostkowski hit four of five field goal attempts, including two 25-yard attempts after the Patriots’ offensive series that stalled inside Buffalo’s 10-yard line.

McCourty sealed the victory with 5:54 minutes to complete the regulation time, intercepting a pass by Field Marshal Derek Anderson through the center of the grid that looked for runner LeSean McCoy and return it to the end zone.

Two plays before the interception, the reception of touchdown to a hand of the tight end of the Bills, Jason Croom, was invalidated after the video review.

The replays clearly showed that Croom never had possession of the ball when attempting to make the 25-yard reception, which would have brought the Bills closer to a touchdown.

Buffalo lost the third consecutive game and dropped to a 2-6 record for its worst start since opening the 2010 season with eight losses.

Anderson completed 22 of 39 passes for 290 yards, without scoring, and one intercepted, in addition to three sacks in 26 opportunities that was in danger outside the protection package, and placed the passer rating at 69.4.
