Cardi B and The Carters (Beyoncé and Jay-Z) are nominated for MTV awards

The rapper Cardi B and the hip hop duo The Carters, formed by the star couple Beyoncé and Jay-Z, win nominations for the MTV Video Music Awards that are held next August in New York, announced today the television channel.

Cardi B, an American of Dominican origin, is the favorite and accumulates ten nominations, including for the categories of Video of the year and Song of the year, for his collaboration with Bruno Mars on the theme “Finesse”, but also for Artist of the Year and Better new artist.

With 8 nominations, The Carters will compete for the best video of the year with the song “APES¿¿T”, which also opts for Best Collaboration, Best Hip Hop and other professional categories dedicated to art direction, choreography and cinematography.

Seven R & B singer Childish Gambino (“This is America”) and Canadian rapper Drake (“God’s plan”) are both nominated, both with ballots for the Video with Message, Video of the Year and Best Direction awards.

Other favorites of the contest are Bruno Mars, who has five candidates, and the singers Ariana Grande and Camila Cabello, who aspire to five awards.

Instead, they premiered their name as nominees in this edition Dua Lipa, Hayley Kiyoko, Jessie Reyez or Post Malone, the latter in the category of Artist of the year.

In addition to Cardi B, The Carters, Childish Cambino and Drake, can win the award for best video Ariana Grande (“No tears left to cry”) and Camila Cabello (“Havana”, along with Young Thug).

The MTV Video Music Awards will be presented on August 20 at a gala at the Radio City Music Hall in New York, the historic hall where they hosted these awards for the first time in 1984.
