Dominican Republic establishes a mechanism to reimburse the payment of the Tourist Card

The Government of the Dominican Republic today announced the implementation of a mechanism, through the portal of the Directorate General of Internal Taxes (DGII), “to request the reimbursement of $ 10 per Tourist Card in cases in the that apply. ”

For reimbursement, Dominicans who have purchased air tickets at points of sale outside the Dominican Republic, foreigners residing in the country with a valid residence card, foreigners with a valid Dominican visa and nationalized Dominican foreigners apply.

The return of the money will be made within a period not exceeding five days to all travelers not included in the regulation of the institution that purchase air tickets at points of sale outside the Dominican Republic, according to a statement from the Presidency.

Also exempt are diplomats accredited in the country, citizens of countries that, by bilateral agreements ratified by the National Congress, as well as users of non-commercial private aviation that use aircraft of a weight of up to 13,620 kilos and no greater capacity to 12 passengers.

The mechanism allows the citizen to request reimbursement to his credit card or by cash or check in an office of the DGII.
