Gary Woodland wins in a tiebreaker and Rahm deflates on the last day

The American Gary Woodland has won the Phoenix Open, PGA Tour tournament played at TPC Scottsdale after beating his compatriot Chez Reavie in a tiebreaker after a final day in which the Spanish Jon Rahm deflated after starting the day with victory options.

Woodland and Reavie finished tied at 266 strokes (18 under par), three less than the American Ollie Schniederjans, so they had to face a tiebreaker on the 18th hole in which the first one prevailed to get the pair, while Reavie a bogey was pointed.

Wooland, 33, achieved his third title in the circuit and first since August 4, 2013, when he won the Reno-Tahoe Open.

Jon Rahm started the fourth round with victory options, but missed the key lap, as he did last week at Farmers Insurance.

After making 67, 68 and 63 the first three days, the player from Vizcaya closed the tournament with a round of 72 (one over par) to finish in eleventh place.
