Florida receives 88 million tourists in the first 9 months of the year

Florida received a total of 88.2 million visitors in the first nine months of the year, which is a new record in the tourist state, an official source reported today.

This figure represents an increase of 3.3% compared to the same period in 2016, when 85.4 million visitors visited the southern state.

These data are recorded despite the fact that Florida suffered the onslaught of category 4 hurricane Irma last September, which caused at least 70 deaths in its wake and left tens of thousands of victims in the state.

The governor, Rick Scott, will detail this afternoon, in a visit to a Miami business, the march and economic boom of the tourism sector, which attributes, in large part, to the “strong promotion campaign” carried out by Visit Florida, the agency of tourist promotion of the state, collected local media.

The number of visitors received in 2016 meant that Florida would chain its sixth consecutive annual record, with close to 113 million, a record figure that represented an increase of 5.9% over 2015.

In 2015, 106.6 million tourists arrived to the state.
