Republican Congressmen Call for Trump Protection for “Dreamers”

A group of Republican congressmen called on President Donald Trump to protect undocumented young people from the Deferred Action program known as “dreamers.”

In a letter released today, representatives Dan Donovan (New York), Carlos Curbelo and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (Florida), Jeff Denham and David Valadao (California) and Don Bacon (Nebraska) affirm that maintaining DACA is ” Interest of the nation “.

“We strongly support their commitment to deport those who have violated our laws and we believe that the resources that would be directed to those benefited by the DACA would be better invested against criminals,” said congressmen.

“Children who were brought into the United States at a young age had no choice. They did not attempt to violate the law voluntarily … These cases require careful and attentive analysis of what is best for the interests of our country” .

Congressmen remember in the letter that “dreamers” “speak English”, “studied at US universities”, “have work permits”, “pay taxes” and “are buying cars and their first homes.”

“All this generates revenue for our local, state and federal governments,” they add.

This letter comes less than two weeks before the September 5 deadline that 10 Texas-led states have put Trump to end the program. Otherwise, they will take the case to Justice.

The DACA was approved in 2012 by former President Barack Obama (2009-2017) and has slowed the deportation of some 750,000 undocumented immigrants who arrived from children to the country and are known as “dreamers.”

Vice President Mike Pence said last week that Trump will make a “heart” decision on “dreamers”, but recalled that the citizens voted in the last election for a government committed to borders.
