Latre: It is a challenge to reach 600 million people with the Platinum

The comedian, actor and presenter Carlos Latre will be the master of ceremonies, along with the Uruguayan actress and singer Natalia Orerio, at the gala of the fourth edition of the Platinum Awards of Ibero-American cinema, a meeting that faces as a challenge: Reach 600 million potential viewers.

These nominations make the gala to be held in Madrid – the fourth, after the previous ones held in Panama, Marbella (southern Spain) and Punta del Este (Uruguay) – in the most open, with 13 countries in the region represented in the 42 finalist productions.

“We started four years ago and presented 700 titles, this year they are going for the 850 titles that have been presented, there is a great Ibero-American jury and it is the one that decides what the prizes are going to be,” Cerezo explained to Efe.

Latre added that for him it is a pride to be able to lead the gala of some prizes “that are taking more and more weight worldwide”.

One of the most outstanding categories in the fourth edition will be the Platinum to Cinema and Education in Securities, in collaboration with the Foundation against Drug Addiction (FAD), which rewards those titles capable of “transmitting values, initiatives, ways of thinking and Empathize with the characters, “said Latre.

In this edition, actor Edward James Olmos, known for his role as Lieutenant Castillo in the “Miami Vice” series, will receive the honor prize for his contribution to the promotion of Latin American culture in Hollywood.

During the awards ceremony, the Platinum Gala will also feature artists such as Imanol Arias, Jorge Perugorría, Kate del Castillo, Miguel Bosé and Rob Schneider.
