The comedian, actor and presenter Carlos Latre will be the master of ceremonies, along with the Uruguayan actress and singer Natalia Orerio, at the gala of the fourth edition of the Platinum Awards of Ibero-American cinema, a meeting that faces as a challenge: Reach 600 million potential viewers.
“It represents a great responsibility, above all, a lot of enthusiasm, a lot of joy to have the challenge of reaching so many people, so vast potential audience that suppose 600 million spectators,” said Efe Latre commenting on the gala, to be held in Madrid The next 22 of July.
Enrique Cerezo, president of the Agency for the Management of Audiovisual Producers’ Rights (EGEDA), together with the Iberoamerican Federation of Cinematographic Audiovisual Producers (FIPCA), said that Latre “is a great presenter and artist, Man with much experience “.
The most outstanding films in this edition of the Platinum will be “A monster comes to see me”, of the Spanish Juan Antonio Bayona, with 7 nominations; “Neruda”, of the Chilean Pablo Larraín, like five; And with four, “Desde lá”, of the Venezuelan Lorenzo Vigas; “The Illustrious Citizen”, of the Argentineans Gastón Duprat and Mariano Cohn; “The thin yellow line” of Mexican Celso R. These nominations make the gala to be held in Madrid – the fourth, after the previous ones held in Panama, Marbella (southern Spain) and Punta del Este (Uruguay) – in the most open, with 13 countries in the region represented in the 42 finalist productions.
“We started four years ago and presented 700 titles, this year they are going for the 850 titles that have been presented, there is a great Ibero-American jury and it is the one that decides what the prizes are going to be,” Cerezo explained to Efe.
Regarding the possible winners, Latre commented that “the great dilemma, because it is not a problem, is that they are interpretations so diverse, so real, that it would be complicated and too risky” for its part to opt for someone.
Latre added that for him it is a pride to be able to lead the gala of some prizes “that are taking more and more weight worldwide”.
“Every year it gives the sensation that it has a lot more repercussion, and above all from the inside, the sensation that it gives is that the world of cinema increasingly believes it more, the world of Ibero-American cinema is increasingly involved in the Awards Platinum, “he added.
One of the most outstanding categories in the fourth edition will be the Platinum to Cinema and Education in Securities, in collaboration with the Foundation against Drug Addiction (FAD), which rewards those titles capable of “transmitting values, initiatives, ways of thinking and Empathize with the characters, “said Latre.
In this edition, actor Edward James Olmos, known for his role as Lieutenant Castillo in the “Miami Vice” series, will receive the honor prize for his contribution to the promotion of Latin American culture in Hollywood.
During the awards ceremony, the Platinum Gala will also feature artists such as Imanol Arias, Jorge Perugorría, Kate del Castillo, Miguel Bosé and Rob Schneider.
