Araqchi stresses that any Israeli attack in Lebanon violates the agreement and demands a withdrawal from occupied Lebanese areas
The Iranian government has announced that the war with the United States and Israel “officially” ended this Monday, following the conclusion of the agreement with Washington; it further insisted that any Israeli attack or the continued presence of Israeli troops on Lebanese soil constitutes a violation of the memorandum of understanding.
“The war officially ended yesterday morning (referring to Monday) on all fronts,” said Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, as reported by the Iranian public broadcaster IRIB. “Any Israeli attack against Lebanon is a violation of these understandings,” he noted.
“From our perspective, the two parties to this commitment are the United States and Israel on one side, and Iran and Hezbollah on the other,” he argued. “The end of the war in Lebanon is an inseparable part (of the agreement),” he maintained, reiterating that “the war does not end without Israel withdrawing from the Lebanese territories it has occupied,” according to the Mehr news agency.
He also confirmed that a “new round of negotiations” with the United States would take place on Friday in Geneva, Switzerland, with the aim of “reaching a final agreement.” “After three months of negotiations, we were able to finalize the first phase (of the talks),” Araqchi pointed out.
