George Clooney responds to Trump after the president’s mockery: “We have to make America great again, in November”

American actor George Clooney has responded to US President Donald Trump, who mocked him and his wife, Amal Clooney, for obtaining French citizenship.

“I completely agree with the current president. We have to make America great again. We’ll start in November,” Clooney said in a statement sent to The Hollywood Reporter in response to Trump’s remarks.

After it was revealed that the actor and his wife, a lawyer and activist, had received French citizenship, Trump claimed that France “is in the midst of a serious crime problem due to its absolutely horrendous handling of immigration.”

This is not the first time Trump has used social media to attack Clooney, as last March he referred to him as a “second-rate actor” after the actor’s comments regarding freedom of the press in the country.

The Official Journal of the French Republic—similar to the Official State Gazette (BOE) in Spain—published on December 26 that both George Clooney and Amal Clooney (whose maiden name was Amal Alamuddin) and their two children (Alexander and Ella) have obtained French citizenship.
