Trump attributes filmmaker Rob Reiner’s death to “rage” caused by his “furious obsession” with him

Reiner’s son has been arrested for the couple’s alleged murder

US President Donald Trump has expressed his sorrow over the deaths of film director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer, who were murdered Sunday at their Los Angeles home, in an act he attributed to the “rage” caused by the filmmaker’s “furious obsession” with him.

Rob and his wife died “apparently from the anger he provoked in others due to his enormous, stubborn, and incurable suffering from a debilitating mental illness known as Trump Dementia Syndrome, sometimes referred to as TDS,” Trump stated in a message posted on his Truth Social account.

“He has driven people crazy with his furious obsession with President Donald J. Trump, with his evident paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpasses all his goals and expectations of greatness, and with America’s Gilded Age ahead, perhaps like never before,” he argued.

The president called the deaths of Reiner and his wife a “sad event,” stating that Reiner was “tortured” and “had problems.” He added that Reiner “was a very talented film director,” a “comedy star.” “Rest in peace!” he concluded.

Reiner openly advocated progressive political ideas and had denounced Trump as “mentally unfit” for office. In an interview, he accused him of “betrayal” and later denounced the political climate as “worse than McCarthyism,” referring to the persecution of leftist ideas linked to Senator Joseph McCarthy during the 1950s.

REINER’S SON ARRESTED

The couple was found dead this Sunday in their Brentwood, Los Angeles, residence, an incident that police are investigating as an apparent homicide. In fact, they have already arrested one of their sons, Nick Reiner, for the alleged murder of his parents.

“Our Robbery-Homicide Division is in charge of the investigation. They worked through the night on this case and were able to take Nick Reiner into custody as a suspect,” explained Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell. “He is charged with homicide and his bail is set at four million dollars,” he added.

The incident occurred shortly before 3:38 p.m. (local time), when the Los Angeles Fire Department received a call about a medical emergency in the 200 block of South Chadbourd Avenue and found the 78-year-old director and producer and his 68-year-old wife dead.

The filmmaker, born in 1947 in the Bronx, New York, rose to fame in the 1970s. He was nominated for an Academy Award for producing “A Few Good Men” and directed such well-known films as “When Harry Met Sally” and “The Princess Bride.”
