Ridley Scott negotiates with Disney to direct a film about the magician Merlin

The British filmmaker Ridley Scott is in negotiations with Disney to direct a film about the magician Merlin, the character belonging to the legend of King Arthur and the sword Excalibur.

As reported by the specialist media Variety, if the talks came to fruition, Scott would take charge of adapting to the movies the novels of “The Merlin Saga”, a set of books written by the American writer T.A. Barron that deal with the complete history of the magician.

The filmography of Scott, one of the great filmmakers of recent decades, includes titles such as “Alien” (1979), “Blade Runner” (1982), “Thelma & Louise” (1991), “Gladiator” (2000) or ” The Martian “(2015).

The director presented two films in 2017: “Alien: Covenant”, with Michael Fassbender as the protagonist; and “All the Money in the World”, whose cast was led by Michelle Williams and Mark Wahlberg.

“All the Money in the World”, which chronicled the famous kidnapping of tycoon Jean Paul Getty’s grandson, made headlines as, after the scandals of sexual abuse that had as aggressor Kevin Spacey, the team of the tape decided at the last minute to suppress this actor of the footage and sign Christopher Plummer to shoot again all his shots.
