An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale struck southern Mexico today, with no reported casualties or casualties, according to the Mexican Seismic Alert Service (SASMEX).
The tremor was registered at 0538 local time (10.38 GMT) and its epicenter was located 123 kilometers southeast of Salina Cruz, in the state of Oaxaca.
The SASMEX said that the earthquake was “confirmed by 12 sensors” and the warning system “did not generate any signal because the energy developed during the first second did not exceed the established levels”.
This new earthquake occurs only four days after that of 7.1 that affected the Mexican capital and that has caused 292 deaths for the moment and while the recovery teams continue to look for victims among the debris.
