Sony reported an attributable net profit of 342.161 billion yen (1.842 billion euros) for the April–June period—the Japanese conglomerate’s first fiscal quarter—representing a 44.4% increase compared to the same period last year. The multinational also raised its full-year projections.
Sony’s revenue for the quarter reached 2.84 trillion yen (15.290 billion euros), an increase of 8.4%, with revenue from the gaming division remaining stable at 937.123 billion yen (5.046 billion euros).
Meanwhile, the music business grew 20.8% year-on-year to 562.019 billion yen (3.026 billion euros), while the film division saw revenue fall 3.7% to 315.063 billion yen (1.696 billion euros). Additionally, the entertainment and technology segment increased sales by 1.8% to 543.850 billion yen (2.928 billion euros), and the imaging division grew by 25.6% to 512.738 billion yen (2.761 billion euros).
Looking ahead to the full fiscal year ending in March 2027, the Japanese company has raised its revenue and profit forecasts. It now expects revenue of 12.5 trillion yen (67.300 billion euros), up from the 12.3 trillion yen (66.230 billion euros) projected in May. As for net income attributable to the company, Sony expects to reach 1.21 trillion yen (6.51 billion euros) by the end of its fiscal year, 4.3% higher than previously forecast.
