US President Donald Trump has described Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a “war hero,” a phrase he has also used to describe himself in relation to the attacks carried out last June against Iran.
“He’s a war hero. I guess I am, too. Nobody cares, but I am one too. I mean, I planned that,” he asserted during an appearance on The Mark Levin Show, where he alluded to the attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities that, Trump claimed, ended the conflict between the two sides.
He expressed frustration at the lack of international recognition for the measures taken just a few months ago and noted that Netanyahu is dealing with domestic legal issues: “He’s fighting, they’re trying to put him in jail.”
However, Netanyahu has been the subject of an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court since last November for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in connection with the Israeli offensive against the Gaza Strip, where more than 62,000 Palestinians have died in less than two years.
