Two people were killed and three more were wounded this Sunday, including a police officer, after two shootings by the same suspect at the Blue Grass Airport and at a church in Lexington.
The attacker was shot at the church, the scene of the second shooting, after wounding the officer at the airport, according to police and local press reports.
The incident began around 11:30 a.m., when the officer was seriously wounded by a gunshot near the airport. The wounded man is in stable condition.
The suspect then fled and entered the Wayside Baptist Church on Richmond Street in Lexington, where he killed two women and was finally shot. Two more men were wounded, one in critical condition and the other in stable condition, Lexington Police Chief Lawrence Weathers reported.
The deceased have been identified by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office as Beverly Gumm, 72, and Kristina Combs, 32.
