China condemns US attack on Iran as a violation of international law

Calls on all parties, and “especially Israel,” to cease hostilities immediately.

The Chinese government condemned this Sunday the attack carried out early this morning by the United States against Iran’s nuclear facilities and called “especially on Israel” to immediately restrain itself in its first reaction to the US bombings of the Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordo nuclear facilities.

“China strongly condemns the US attack on Iran and its attack on nuclear facilities under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency,” the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Beijing believes the attack “seriously violates the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter and international law and exacerbates tensions in the Middle East.” It therefore urges all parties to the conflict, “especially Israel,” to “cease fire as soon as possible, ensure the safety of civilians, and initiate dialogue and negotiations.”

“China is willing to work with the international community to join forces, uphold justice, and strive to restore peace and stability in the Middle East,” the statement concluded.
