Trump Withdraws Federal Funding from Public Radio and Television Networks NPR and PBS

President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to withdraw government funding from National Public Radio (NPR) and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), both of which are accused of providing “biased” news coverage.

The White House indicated in a statement that both NPR and PBS, which receive billions of dollars annually at the federal level—particularly through the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), could also face the suspension of funds obtained indirectly from public coffers.

The order also directs Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to investigate these networks for possible “employment discrimination.” The measure was approved after Trump attacked the services, which could lead to the closure of some local stations.

According to the president, both NPR and PBS have been broadcasting “biased” information that shows clear bias on the part of the U.S. public broadcasting service. “They are broadcasting leftist propaganda using taxpayer money, which is inappropriate,” he asserted.

“President Trump is working to ensure that every taxpayer dollar is not wasted on progressive projects and is used to benefit American workers,” the document states.
