Former US President Bill Clinton hospitalized

Former US President Bill Clinton (1993-2001) was hospitalized on Monday in Washington, where he is undergoing several tests and is under observation after having a fever.

“He is fine,” said his deputy chief of staff, Ángel Ureña, in statements to the American television network CNN. “He remains in good spirits and deeply grateful for the excellent care he is receiving,” he said.

Clinton, 78, has been admitted to MedStar University Hospital in Georgetown and hopes to be home to celebrate Christmas.

Since leaving the White House, he has had several health problems: in 2004 he underwent a quadruple bypass operation and in 2010 he had two coronary stents inserted. In 2021 he was hospitalized for a urinary infection that spread to his bloodstream.

This year, Clinton has campaigned for Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris and recently published a memoir about her life after her time in the Oval Office.
