Miami.- In a moving ceremony held last Friday at the A Fuento Lento restaurant in Miami, the Florida branch of the Association of Art Critics of the Dominican Republic (Acroarte) paid a well-deserved tribute to Marcos A. Tejeda for his outstanding career and his significant contributions to the institution.
The event, which took place during Acroarte’s Christmas party, was chaired by José Rosario, president of the Florida branch. Rosario highlighted the tireless work of Tejeda, who was at the head of the institution during its first 8 years, a crucial period that allowed the consolidation and permanence of Acroarte in Florida.
“Marcos A. Tejeda has been a key figure in the history of our branch. His leadership and commitment during the initial years were fundamental in ensuring that Acroarte did not disappear and became an important reference for the Dominican artistic community in South Florida,” said Rosario.
Tejeda, visibly moved, thanked the recognition and recalled the challenges and achievements of those early years. “This recognition is an honor, but it is also a testament to the teamwork and dedication of all of us who are part of Acroarte. Together, we managed to establish a solid foundation that has allowed the growth and recognition of our institution,” he said.
The ceremony was attended by important personalities from the Dominican community in Miami. Among those attending were Tony Castellanos, president of the College of Journalists in Miami; the Dominican consul, Geanilda Vásquez; Richard Bonilla, in charge of INDEX in Miami; Soledad Cruz; the Dominican actress Wendy Regalado; and Félix Suriel of TV Hispanic, among other prominent artists and journalists.
The festive atmosphere was enriched by performances and presentations by several local artists, who contributed to making the evening a memorable celebration. Attendees enjoyed a varied program that included music, dance, and words of gratitude and recognition.
This tribute not only celebrates Tejeda’s work, but also serves as a reminder of the importance of Acroarte in promoting and valuing Dominican culture abroad. The Acroarte Florida Christmas evening became a space for unity and celebration, where the Dominican community in Miami was able to remember and honor the achievements of the branch in its short history.
