The Brazilian Supreme Court judge Alexandre de Moraes has ordered this Tuesday the unblocking of the social network X after it has paid a fine of 28.6 million reals (about 4.5 million euros) and has closed the accounts of some users who are being investigated.
Following the favorable opinion of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) and the decision of De Moraes after the company has complied with the necessary requirements to operate again in national territory, the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) has been ordered to inform Internet providers to release access to the platform, so that it should be operational in the next few hours.
“I decree the end of the suspension and authorize the immediate return of the activities of X Brasil (…) in national territory and order Anatel to adopt the necessary measures to implement the measure, communicating to this Supreme Court in the next 24 hours,” the judge said, according to Agencia Brasil.
The South African magnate announced the closure of the company’s headquarters in Brazil after X was fined for refusing to comply with the order to delete profiles of those under investigation for publishing messages considered antidemocratic. However, the representation was reactivated in recent weeks and lawyer Raquel Villa Nova once again became the legal representative of the network.
