One of ‘El Mayo’ Zambada’s allies murdered in Sinaloa

Martín García Corrales, alias ‘El Tano’, considered close to drug trafficker Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada, has been killed in an attack in the Mexican state of Sinaloa, the scene of six other homicides in recent hours. The United States was offering a reward of 4,000,000 dollars (about 3.62 million euros) for García.

García’s body was found alongside two other male bodies tied with their hands behind their backs, with their faces covered with tape and with obvious signs of torture and gunshot wounds on a road near the community of Aguaje, municipality of Elota, about 110 kilometres from the city of Culiacán, according to the Mexican newspaper ‘El Universal’.

The other two bodies also had their faces covered with tape, signs of beatings and gunshot wounds, without any kind of identification. A fourth body was found on a nearby road, also tied up and with his head covered.

García, along with his brother, Leobardo García Corrales ‘La Loba’, was considered by judicial authorities to be one of the main drug traffickers linked to the Sinaloa Cartel.

Two other bodies, also of men, were found near the Montesierra neighborhood and a seventh victim appeared on Gaviota beach in the city of Mazatlán. This is a tourist identified as Alejandro N., 20 years old, from Los Angeles, California. His companion, the young Karen N., was injured.

Also in the last few hours, the elected mayor of Tultepec, in the State of Mexico, Israel Cruz Carrizosa, was murdered. He was assaulted and shot in his own tortilla shop. He had been elected mayor by the Movimiento Ciudadano party for the 2025-2027 period.
