Hillary Clinton warns Harris will face ‘sexism and double standards’ during campaign

The former Secretary of State remembers that she herself was described as a “disgusting woman” or “witch”

Former United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned this Tuesday in an opinion column published in the newspaper ‘The New York Times’ that the Democratic candidate for the White House, Vice President Kamala Harris, will face “sexism and double standards.” standards” by the Republicans.

“Ms. Harris’ record and character will be distorted and belittled by an avalanche of misinformation and the kind of nasty prejudices we are already hearing from MAGA spokespeople (Republicans who support former President Donald Trump). (…) Be a a couple of things about how difficult it can be for strong female candidates to fight sexism and the double standards of American politics,” she said.

In that sense, she recalled that she herself was called a “disgusting woman”, a “witch” and other “much worse” insults during her two presidential campaigns, and has urged both Harris and her campaign to “make their way through of noise” and that, despite the short time to prepare the electoral campaign, has given the example of the Labor Party in the United Kingdom and the New Popular Front in France, who “have obtained great victories with even less time.

“Harris will face unique additional challenges as the first Black and South Asian woman to lead a major party ticket. That’s real, but we shouldn’t be afraid. It’s a trap to believe progress is impossible. After all, I “I won the national popular vote by almost three million in 2016, and it was not that long ago that Americans overwhelmingly elected our first black president,” he added.

However, he has highlighted that this condition of Harris can turn it into “an unstoppable wave” in a context in which both the restriction or prohibition of the right to abortion in numerous states and the “attacks against democracy”, although for this “it will have to turn skeptical voters toward Democrats and mobilize young voters who need to be convinced.

Likewise, he has spoken about the vice president’s “solid record” both in her position and in her position as prosecutor, stating that she has obtained numerous “achievements” during the Joe Biden Administration after Trump “botched the pandemic and left the economy in free fall”, and that they have even managed to unite Democrats and Republicans in various aspects “when many thought that the bipartisanship had died” due to the continuous clashes between both formations.

HARRIS VS. TRUMP
“Harris is chronically underrated, like so many women in politics, but she is well prepared for this moment. I look forward to hearing her make a compelling case against Mr. Trump, who failed as president the first time and is running with a dangerous agenda. A second term Trump’s plan would be much worse than the first. Trump’s plans are more extreme, he is more unhinged, and the barriers that limited some of his worst instincts have disappeared,” he added.

Clinton has recommended Harris convey to the population that inflation “will skyrocket again” under Trump due to his tariff plans or tax reductions, as well as warn against “mass deportations” and restrictions against abortion or “dismantling” of the Department of Education.

“The time to regret is over. The time has come to organize, mobilize and win,” concluded the former Secretary of State.
