The US private sector generated 150,000 jobs in June, according to ADP

The private sector in the United States created 150,000 jobs in June, a figure slightly lower than the 157,000 new jobs created in May, according to the report published this Wednesday by the consulting firm ADP, which points to a significant slowdown in the increase in wages. , up to 4.9%, the smallest year-on-year increase in almost three years.

The June survey confirms that the majority of employment growth was due to the services sector, with 136,000 net jobs, compared to 14,000 jobs in goods production companies.

Considering the size of the companies, large companies (+500 workers) generated 58,000 jobs, while medium-sized companies (50-499) created 88,000 jobs, and small companies increased their workforce by 5,000.

“Job growth has been strong, but not across the board,” said Nela Richardson, chief economist at ADP. “If it hadn’t been for an uptick in hiring in the leisure and hospitality sector, June would have been a bearish month,” she added.

On its side, annual salaries increased by 4.9%, one tenth less than the previous month and its smallest increase since August 2021.
