Former US Vice President Mike Pence says he will not support Trump’s candidacy

Former Vice President of the United States Mike Pence stated this Friday that he cannot in “good conscience” support the candidacy of his previous running mate, former President Donald Trump, on his way to the White House for the November 2024 elections.

“During my presidential campaign I made it clear that there were profound differences between President Trump and me on a variety of issues, and not only with respect to the constitutional duty that I exercised on January 6,” he explained this Friday during an interview with the Fox network. News.

Pence has highlighted that the magnate has moved away from his commitment to confront the debt and that he has begun to “shun” his defense of the “sanctity of human life”, in reference to abortion. Likewise, he has noted his disagreement with the latest comments about China and his opposition to the TikTok ban.

However, he has noted that he is “incredibly proud of the record” of the Trump Administration in making the United States “more prosperous” and “more secure.” “It should come as no surprise that I am not endorsing Donald Trump this year,” he said.

Pence, along with former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, is one of the few primary rivals who have declined to endorse former President Trump. The magnate’s then running mate withdrew from the presidential race in October after starting his campaign in June with the promise of “strong leadership.”

The former vice president was key to the certification of the results of the 2020 presidential election, in which Joe Biden was elected despite allegations of fraud raised by Trump, who today faces four federal charges for it.
