The Houthi insurgency in Yemen has assured that the latest series of attacks launched in recent hours by the United States and the United Kingdom will have no deterrent effect in their campaign to prevent transit in the Red Sea as a measure of pressure against Israel.
The Houthi military spokesman, Yahya Saree, has confirmed almost fifty international attacks against their locations in the country since Saturday night in six provinces of the country, with special emphasis on Sana’a, where the capital is located, and Taiz, the latter location. where the insurgency has been carrying out a blockade on the capital of the same name for years amid criticism from international humanitarian organizations.
Specifically, Saree is aware of 48 attacks — the US and the United Kingdom had spoken of 36 –, 13 of them in Sana’a, eleven in Taiz, nine in Hodeida, where the country’s main port is located, essential for the arrival of aid. humanitarian; seven in Al Baida, seven in Haya and one in Sada. He does not report any victims in his message.
The spokesman concludes by assuring that the attacks, however, “will not deter” the insurgency from its “moral, religious and humanitarian stance in support of the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, and will not go unanswered and punished.”
The international attacks are parallel to the series of bombings carried out on Friday night in the United States against pro-Iran militias in Iraq and Syria, in retaliation for the attacks by these groups on their positions in the region, and which left three soldiers dead on Last weekend.
In both cases, the catalyst has been the war between Israel and Hamas that began on October 7; a conflict where both pro-Iran groups and Yemen insurgents have given their open support to the Palestinian Islamist movement.
